the Windward side
Huilua Fishpond
A walled Hawaiian fishpond at the mouth of Kahana Bay.

Why go
One of the few fishponds left whose shape is still legible from the shore, and it sits in the prettiest bay on the windward side.
The catch
Storm damage means the wall is broken in places, and there is no visitor centre or signage to speak of. You are looking at it from the beach, not walking it.

Getting there
Driving times on real roads, from the same data the trip planner routes on — not straight-line distance.

Add traffic. These are free-flowing times, and the H1 through town at eight in the morning is not free-flowing.
