the North Shore
Laniakea Beach
A small beach where green sea turtles come up to rest on the sand.

Why go
You can usually see honu, wild and up close.
The catch
Parking is on the far side of a busy highway and people cross carelessly. Stay well back from the turtles - keeping your distance is required by law.

Getting there
Driving times on real roads, from the same data the trip planner routes on — not straight-line distance.
| From Waikīkī | 1 hr | 35.8 miles |
|---|---|---|
| From HNL airport | 1 hr 2 min | 32.3 miles |
| From Hale‘iwa | 4 min | 1.3 miles |
| From Turtle Bay | 23 min | 10.6 miles |
Add traffic. These are free-flowing times, and the H1 through town at eight in the morning is not free-flowing.
