the North Shore
Waimea Valley
A flat walk through a garden to a waterfall you can swim under.

Why go
The easiest waterfall on the island to actually reach.
The catch
Paved and pushchair-friendly the whole way. $26 for adults, $20 for seniors and students, $18 for children 4 to 12 - or $10 with a Hawaii or military ID. The shuttle to the falls is another $10 each way. Swimming depends on conditions and they will close it after heavy rain.

Getting there
Driving times on real roads, from the same data the trip planner routes on — not straight-line distance.
| From Waikīkī | 1 hr 11 min | 39.4 miles |
|---|---|---|
| From HNL airport | 1 hr 12 min | 35.9 miles |
| From Hale‘iwa | 14 min | 4.9 miles |
| From Turtle Bay | 20 min | 7.9 miles |
Add traffic. These are free-flowing times, and the H1 through town at eight in the morning is not free-flowing.
