Honolulu
Kea'iwa Heiau
A healing heiau at the top of Aiea Heights, inside a state recreation area.

Why go
The heiau and the Aiea Loop Trail share a car park, so a short walk through the ruins turns into a proper forest walk if you want one.
The catch
The drive up is a long, narrow residential road. The gate closes in the evening and cars have been locked in.

Getting there
Driving times on real roads, from the same data the trip planner routes on — not straight-line distance.
| From Waikīkī | 29 min | 13.7 miles |
|---|---|---|
| From HNL airport | 32 min | 12.3 miles |
| From Downtown Honolulu | 22 min | 10.4 miles |
| From Ala Moana | 25 min | 11.7 miles |
Add traffic. These are free-flowing times, and the H1 through town at eight in the morning is not free-flowing.
