Honolulu
Kaka‘ako
A warehouse district between downtown and Ala Moana, now covered in large-scale murals.
Why go
The murals are repainted every year for Pow Wow, so the walls are genuinely different from one visit to the next, and it is all walkable in an hour.
The catch
Half of it is a building site and has been for years, so expect hoardings and detours. The murals are spread over several blocks with nothing marking a route.

Getting there
Driving times on real roads, from the same data the trip planner routes on — not straight-line distance.
| From Waikīkī | 9 min | 3.2 miles |
|---|---|---|
| From HNL airport | 32 min | 13.7 miles |
| From Downtown Honolulu | 3 min | 1 miles |
| From Ala Moana | 5 min | 1.5 miles |
Add traffic. These are free-flowing times, and the H1 through town at eight in the morning is not free-flowing.
