Waikīkī
Ala Moana Center
The largest open-air shopping centre in the world, between Waikiki and downtown.
Why go
The food hall downstairs is the actual reason: it is where people who live here eat, and it is a fraction of Waikiki prices.
The catch
It is a shopping mall, and an enormous one. If you are not shopping or eating there is no reason to be there, and it is busy every day of the year.

Getting there
Driving times on real roads, from the same data the trip planner routes on — not straight-line distance.
| From Waikīkī | 8 min | 2.1 miles |
|---|---|---|
| From HNL airport | 34 min | 14.6 miles |
| From Downtown Honolulu | 6 min | 1.9 miles |
Add traffic. These are free-flowing times, and the H1 through town at eight in the morning is not free-flowing.
