East Oʻahu
Sea Life Park
A marine park on the southeast corner, under the cliffs at Makapuu.

Why go
The setting is better than the park: the sea cliffs and Rabbit Island are right behind the pools.
The catch
Captive dolphin and sea lion interaction is the main business here, which is not for everyone. Expensive once the add-ons start, and dated in places.

Getting there
Driving times on real roads, from the same data the trip planner routes on — not straight-line distance.
| From Waikīkī | 33 min | 14.6 miles |
|---|---|---|
| From HNL airport | 1 hr 1 min | 28.9 miles |
| From Hawai‘i Kai | 15 min | 6.5 miles |
| From Kailua | 22 min | 8.6 miles |
Add traffic. These are free-flowing times, and the H1 through town at eight in the morning is not free-flowing.
