East Oʻahu
Pahua Heiau
A small restored heiau on a hillside in a Hawaii Kai subdivision.
Why go
It is a reminder that the whole of east Oahu was farmed and settled long before the cul-de-sacs, and it takes ten minutes.
The catch
It is genuinely small and hemmed in by houses. Park considerately: this is a residential street where people live.

Getting there
Driving times on real roads, from the same data the trip planner routes on — not straight-line distance.
| From Waikīkī | 26 min | 11 miles |
|---|---|---|
| From HNL airport | 54 min | 25.3 miles |
| From Hawai‘i Kai | 7 min | 2.4 miles |
| From Ala Moana | 25 min | 11.6 miles |
Add traffic. These are free-flowing times, and the H1 through town at eight in the morning is not free-flowing.
